John and Peggy Basil adore their Wheat Ridge home. But their 40-year-old galley kitchen was outdated and didn’t meet the needs of their family. “Life in our house revolves around the kitchen, whether it’s cooking meals, doing homework with our three kids, or entertaining,” said Peggy. “Our old kitchen was cut off from the rest of our home and we wanted a design that brought the dining room, family room and kitchen together so that no one – especially the cook – would be left out.” “We wanted our kitchen to have special features with attention to detail,” said John. “Our Caruso Kitchens designer, Mark Pleuss, included refrigerated beverage drawers and outlet covers that were hand-painted to match the granite backsplash.” Peggy added, “And he designed a really functional center island so I can cook while talking with someone seated at the bar.
