Design Spotlight: The Ketzer Project | Designed by Caruso Kitchen Designs

When the Ketzer family was ready to expand and remodel their kitchen, functionality was at the top of their priority list. With an avid cook in the house, they knew that their redesigned space needed to be as serviceable as it was striking. The end result? A remarkably beautiful kitchen that marries elements both pragmatic and personable.

For starters, the room was enlarged and modernized by removing two existing walls, creating the instant appeal of open concept living. Richly hued planked wood flooring flows throughout the entire area, uniting the space as a whole.

Dramatic veins in the quartz countertops make a handsome pairing with the butcher block top surrounding the island prep sink. Perfect for slicing, mincing, dicing, and chopping, the luxurious surface also contributes a unique organic element to the kitchen’s design—echoed in floating open shelving and wood window blinds.

Substantial floor-to-ceiling Eclipse pantry cabinets anchor one wall of the kitchen. The timeless Lancaster door style is finished in Cadet at the refrigerator wall and island, while the back wall cabinets present a pleasing contrast in Moss.

Comfortably seating three, the island also provides a convenient spot for the built-in beverage chiller, keeping drinks easily accessible and freeing up space in the refrigerator.

Don’t overlook details like the added storage located under the island countertop on the barstool side, or the elegant yet simple cabinet hardware in a brushed pewter tone.

Adding a few glass-fronted cabinets was a smart choice to break up the expanse along the pantry wall, as they reflect light and provide an interesting focal point.

Taking the Moss color around the corner on the lower cabinets serves to create additional visual interest.

Form truly meets function in the sleek stainless appliances that were selected for this project. From the four-door refrigerator to the induction cooktop to the pizza wall oven, they leave both chefs and interior designers alike swooning.

Counter-to-ceiling monochromatic tile splash makes clean-up a breeze and adds another dimension of texture and organic beauty.

A closer look reveals the intricate tonal pattern of the back-splash, suggesting elements from nature—perhaps feathers, leaves, or fish scales.

Designed with plenty of room to work and move, this kitchen is meant to be used and will be enjoyed by many generations to come.
